The World Song Contest offers a wide range of songwriting genres. If you are having a difficult time deciding which songwriting genre works best then you may want to consider which artists sound similar to you. Finding out which genre those artists are considered to be will give you a better idea of your songwriting style.

The "Other" genre is for any song that doesn't fit into the other genres. This includes, but is not limited to, styles such as Jazz, Reggae, Children's, Comedy, World, Calypso, Experimental, Novelty, etc...

We understand that some songs may be "cross over" songs and fit into more than one genre. You are allowed to enter your song into multiple genres (an additional submission fee will apply per each genre entry). If you only have lyrics without any music, you will need to enter the "Only Lyric" genre. If you have an instrumental song then you can enter it into the "Instrumental" genre. We do accept instrumental songs in the "Dance/Electronic" genre as well as songs with vocals. The "Spiritual/Religious" genre is open to writers of all faiths.
