Do you accept songs from my country?
Yes, we accept songwriting entries from all countries.
Do I give up my song's rights when I enter?
No, you will not give up any rights to your song when you enter the songwriting competition.
Can I enter a song if I am the co-writer?
Yes, you can enter songs that you have written by yourself or have co-written with others. You will be able to provide the co-writer's name(s) when you enter.
What if I do not have a professional recording of my song?
The production value of your song will not place you at a disadvantage in the song contest. The critique services do evaluate production quality but that is not considered when determining the winner in the "songwriting contest".
Is singing ability a factor in the songwriting competition?
No, we are considering ONLY the songwriting elements of your material. The singer's ability is not a factor. You can sing the song yourself or have someone else sing your song for you as long as you are the writer or co-writer. The critique services do evaluate singing ability but that is not considered when determining the winner in the "songwriting contest".
Which GENRE do I submit my song into?
We offer a wide range of songwriting genres. Learn more about the various genres HERE.
Are critiques included in the price of my songwriting submission?
No, critiques are an "add-on" service. You will have the option to add the critique during the entry process. If there is not an "add-on" option available when you sign up then we have reached our limit for critiques.
How long does it take to get my critique?
You will received your critique approximately 3 weeks after placing your order.
Does my song have to be entered into the contest in order to get a critique?
Yes, only songs entered into the contest are eligible for the critique add-on.
How old do I have to be to enter?
We accept songs from all ages. If you are 18 years or younger at the time of submission, you will need a parent or legal guardian's permission to enter the songwriting contest. If you become a winner in the song contest, all cash and prizes will be delivered to the parent or legal guardian on your behalf.
How many songs can I enter?
You can enter as many songs as you would like into the song contest.
A song I previously submitted did not win. Can I enter it again?
Yes, you can enter a previously submitted song into the songwriting contest again. Your song will be competing against an entirely different set of songs from one competition to the next.
When is the deadline?
The entry deadline for the May 2020 round is May 31, 2020 (Midnight Pacific Time). June's round will begin on June 1, 2020.
Are you accepting new sponsorships?
Yes, if your organization would like to sponsor a prize for the contest please contact our Marketing Department.
When is the winner announcement?
The 2019 songwriting contest winners have been posted. The winner announcement date for the February 2020 round will be announced on May 14, 2020. The winner announcement date for the March 2020 round will be June 10, 2020. The winner announcement date for April's round will be June 30, 2020.
Were there monthly rounds in past years' contests?
No, the songwriting contest started holding monthly rounds in 2020. The previous years' contests were "yearly" contests only without monthly rounds.
