Rules & Regulations
The World Song Contest (WSC) is open to amateur and professional songwriters of any nationality, whether published or unpublished. All Entrants, and their publishers if applicable, will retain all copyrights and all other rights controlled by them in regards to any song entered in the Contest. The songwriter will not lose any rights to their song.
Production value and quality of performance will not be considered. Audio entries can be in any language. “Only Lyric” entries must be in English. Entries must be the partial or entire work of the Entrant. By entering the contest, you are confirming that the material was created by yourself. Material written by co-writers or groups are allowed as long as the Entrant has contributed to the work.
All entries must be entered online through the www.worldsongcontest.com website. There is no limit to the number of entries an Entrant can submit into the competition. A submission fee is required for each individual entry into the competition. It is the Entrant's responsibility to ensure that the recording submitted is complete and playable. No refunds are offered.
Entrants will be able to upload audio songs and/or lyrics during the entry process. The maximum file size per song can not exceed 60MB in size. Acceptable audio file formats include mp3, m4a, wav, aiff, aac, wma, flac as well as all other common formats. “Only Lyric” entries can be submitted in any common text editor format including Text Edit, Notepad, Word, and PDF. “Only Lyric” entries can also be submitted as common picture files such as jpg, gif and png.
The judging committee will be comprised of a selection of high-profile music industry professionals. All entries will be rendered anonymous and numbered prior to judging. Songs are judged using an internal scoring system that allows the songwriting judges to give a numeric value to each song based on how well they liked the song. The monthly and yearly winning songs are those songs that receive the highest collective score among all of the songwriting judges' scores per genre.
One "yearly" winner will be selected from each songwriting genre from among the twelve "monthly" winners in that genre. This selection will constitute each genre's "Yearly Winner". The "Yearly Winners" songs will then be voted upon to determine one "Grand Prize" winner from among all of the "Yearly Winners". Eleven "Yearly Winners" and one "Grand Prize" winner will be awarded the cash and prize packages as specified on the www.worldsongcontest.com website.
Writers who are under 18 years of age at the time of entry must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to enter the competition and to claim prizes on their behalf. The songwriting winners and finalists will be contacting by phone or email 24 hours prior to the winner announcement date. Money and prizes will only be distributed to the yearly winners of the competition. Those Entrants will be responsible for distributing the prizes or money to any co-writers involved. The Entrant acknowledges that all songs entered may be distributed and reviewed by the songwriting competition's judging committee who will be determining the winners.
